Unlearning bad habits

A tip from Chef Jonathan earlier this week on how to be successful on these first couple of weeks at school was to unlearn bad habits. There are positives and negatives to be an adult learner, pro: you know what you’re doing (generally), con: you’ve been doing what you’re doing for a longer period of time.

Here’s my list of 3 steps to unlearn bad habits.

  1. Allow the system to guide you, and follow the methods. The key is trying not to stray from the method that is being taught.
  2. Practice, practice and practice. It takes time to develop a new habit (4-6 weeks).
  3. And don’t be too hard on yourself, learn from your mistake and move on. Just make sure you don’t slip up again.
